The holidays are the perfect time for families to reconnect. For seniors living in retirement residences, it’s a fun-filled season full of activities, guests, and seasonal cheer. At All Seniors Care, we keep up an entertaining schedule of events for the holidays and make sure our residents are ready for their guests. With so many families coming to visit, it’s good to know that families are invited to join the many daily activities that fill the days with joy and cheer at our beautiful communities.
Being family-owned and operated, we know the importance of family. Our parents are retired themselves, and we understand how important it is that families get together during this special time of year. Whatever holidays your family celebrates, the most important thing is spending quality time with one another.
If you want to know more about what’s going on at our retirement residences, you can see what’s happening throughout All Seniors Care Living Centres all year round. Every building even has its own Facebook page, so you can keep up on social media with our festive calendar of events. We’re constantly sharing new recipes, events like High Tea Thursdays and our gift-wrapping party, and blog posts. Follow your building to stay connected to the community. You can also call us anytime if you want to learn more about our activities or planning visits for the holidays.
In preparation for this holiday season, All Seniors Care is getting ready with our annual Christmas Gift Wrapping Day on December 20th! Every All Seniors Care building will have a gift-wrapping party. Residents can get their gifts ready for the grandkids with a selection of wrapping paper and ribbons, as well as help from our caring staff members.
What should the grandkids expect under the tree this year? These are some of the most popular gifts in 2018. They will love unwrapping these toys and gadgets on Christmas Day.
#1 Hatchimals
For the kid who is just clamoring for a pet, Hatchimals are the must-have toy today. Hatchimals are little robot animals that come in plastic eggs. First, you hatch the egg by interacting with it, then the animal breaks out and you take care of it by cuddling it, teaching it how to walk and talk, and playing games with it. Hatchimals are the it-toy of the season and grandkids will love them.
#2 20th Anniversary Harry Potter Box Set
For kids who love the Harry Potter movies, get them the full set of books with this 20th anniversary box set. It’s the perfect gift for kids who love to read. Whether they’re new to the “Potterverse” or they’ve read the books so many times the pages are falling out, they’ll love this beautiful box set featuring brand new covers that display a stunning mural when they’re laid out side by side.
#3 Teddy Ruxpin Teddy Bears
The teddy bear for the digital era. Teddy Ruxpin puts a new spin on the classic stuffed animal. Teddy Ruxpin comes with touch sensors and LCD eyes with over 40 animations. Teddy Ruxpin is a new, interactive version of the beloved teddy bear.
#4 BB-9E App-Enabled Droid
With Disney releasing a new raft of Star Wars movies, there’s a whole new generation of fans. If you haven’t been keeping up with the new films, BB-9E is an adorable droid that works for the dark side. App-enabled droids from Sphero interact with each other and can be custom programmed. This is a great gift for the budding tech geek.
#5 STEM KOR Colour Stacking Toy
Move over Lego, these neat stacking toys made out of magnetic rods and steel balls is ideal for kids age 5 and up and will help them develop their creativity. This is the perfect gift for the budding architect in your life.
#6 Harry Potter: Hogwarts Battle
With the next instalment of the Fantastic Beasts franchise from the Harry Potter world coming out this year, it should be no surprise that there’s not one but two Harry Potter-themed gifts on this list. Harry Potter: Hogwarts Battle is an amazing deck-building game where players add cards to their deck in the form of spells, allies, and magical items. Then they battle against the Dark Arts to save their castle.
#7 Crazy Aaron’s Thinking Putty
For kids who are constantly fidgeting and finding new things to play with, Crazy Aaron’s Thinking Putty is the perfect gift. Thinking Putty comes in a huge range of colours, not to mention glow-in-the-dark and heat sensitive putties. You can bounce it, stretch it, roll it – anything. If you’re looking for a satisfying stress reliever, you might want to get some yourself.
We expect to see more than a few of these at our annual Gift Wrapping Day! But December 20th is only one highlight on a fun-filled, festive calendar for our residents. There’s always something going on at our retirement communities.
Everyday activities and fun events help make All Seniors Care Living Centres the exciting, community-building centres residents love. We provide better quality care and believe that a key part of senior housing is active living. That’s why residents get personalized calendars to keep up with an exciting schedule. Here’s just a short sample of some of the fun activities that our residents enjoy:
- Aqua fit: a great aerobic exercise that takes place in the pool. Aqua fit improves core muscle stability, provides a more balanced workout, activates opposing muscles, and provides the regular benefits of aerobics. Exercising in water also provides a safety barrier for joints.
- Sunshine Strollers Club: is there any better way to greet the day than with a brisk morning walk? Our retirement residences are great places to walk around, from the grounds to nearby parks. Walking is a powerful form of exercise that can clear your mind and help you prepare for the day.
- Movies of the Day: Every day we find a classic movie. Film fans gather around to watch and discuss their thoughts.
- Shopping Outings: We plan regular outings to nearby shopping malls where residents can do their holiday shopping or just stop for a fancy coffee.
- Wii Bowling: Always wanted your own private bowling lane? Wii Bowling brings the bowling alley experience into the living room. It’s a fun way to enjoy the sport without slippery floors or cumbersome bowling balls.
These are just some of the many activities that fill up the days at our retirement residences. They make All Seniors Care Living Centres the perfect place for an active lifestyle. As much as we’re looking forward to Gift Wrapping Day, every day is an adventure at All Seniors Care Living Centres.
For families wondering when the best time to visit is, every day is perfect. Events like the movie of the day and Wii bowling are great to share with family, especially the grandkids. The holidays are a time for reconnecting and spending quality time together. Plan your holiday visit this season!
