Today at the Residence de la Gappe- Phase 2 we had 33 players from Bolas. As the group was big enough, we had to do some bolas post to give everyone a chance to play. A lot of fun again… Nathalie the PAB from the 7th floor brought 14 residents down from the floor, once again she surpassed them while encouraging her residents. Even more I would say she was able to make them feel that they are the most important. Also, a little competition between the residents could be felt, it was exciting. We have two sisters who are residents here and this week they met in the activities and well today she was challenging herself and it was quite fun to watch them challenge each other. (Even though they didn’t win they had a lot of fun). A resident who had never played before and was afraid to play had her initiated by another resident who explained it to her, and he ended up saying, you know, its easy, people laughed a lot. And she play a great game!

Every time a competitor made a good hit, Mrs. T. & Mr. L. would make the crowd cheer. It was a great atmosphere once again today. Competitors were joined at the award ceremony by Geneviève from Alzheimer Society, who participated in congratulating the winning athletes on their performances. This morning we had the visit from the local TV station TVA (Ottawa-Gatineau), the residents really appreciated their presence and Mr. Lalonde, our assistant from Ladder Golf, even showed the journalist how to play! We had a lot of fun this morning! It will be on the news tonight. Mrs. T. told us that on New Year’s Eve her tradition in her family is the square-set dances and on New Year’s Day her father gave the blessing and this tradition continues with her older brother every year.
