Thursday evening brought out 20 avid trivia fans to compete in our Jeopardy tournament at Sturgeon Creek II. These 20 were joined by almost as many spectators, and the theatre was so full there was only standing room available at one point. After 2 serious rounds of competition, the top 8 scores moved into a play-off round. After 3 rounds of questions, we had a clear gold medal winner, but a tie for silver. Another round of questions for these 2 ladies, and finally, after almost 2 hours of play, we had our silver and bronze medalists. One of the greatest challenges was the audience wanting to offer the answers to the questions before the competitor could answer. Hopefully next year we can talk these people into joining in to compete for a medal themselves!! Friday morning brought out 9 cribbage players to vie for the last 3 medals. After 3 games were played, points were tallied, and another tie — this time for gold. Players decided that they had played enough cards for one morning and were getting foggy, so the cards were cut, and the highest card received the gold medal. It was another good round of competition, but I believe that players and spectators alike are now looking forward to letting their hair down and partying after the closing this afternoon. Competitors were joined at the closing ceremony by MLA Scott Johnston, RCAF Band Command Team – Capt. Matt Clark, MWO Bruno Godere and Geoff Currier, who participated in congratulating the winning athletes on their performances. With the Games officially closed everyone at Sturgeon Creek II is looking forward to a good dance party to end the week and some well-earned R & R over the next few days. And that, my friends, is the All Seniors Care Senior Games, 2020, celebrating Traditions completed, and in the books!!!!!!!!!

Rosalie was unstoppable as she hit the bullseye with each shot – way to go Rosalie. Thelma was close behind with a whopping 175 points and Marguerite Murphy pulled into third place with 150 points. Marguerite was surprised with her success as she had to use her left hand to compete. After a quick refreshment break, we jumped right into the last competition of the games: Horseshoes. Luckily, we have a wonderful inside edition of Horseshoes, so nobody lost any toes in the game. Marjorie Allen took top prize with a grand total of 350 points – she had the luck of the Irish on her side! Marion Shrimpton almost tied Marjorie but her last toss put her safely into second place. The big surprise of the day was Ken Irvine. We were all ecstatic when Ken got 3 ringers in a row!! His last shot dropped him down into third place, but the crowd cheered him on for his fantastic performance. With today’s game of Horseshoes, several residents shared their memories of playing horseshoes at the cottage. They couldn’t get over how light our horseshoes were as they told us about the “real, honest-to-goodness” horse shoes they used to use. In honour of the Tradition of playing horseshoes, today we had a casual hamburger lunch, just like one would at a cottage, after a good game of horseshoes. Athletes and Volunteers were joined by MPP Dr. Merrilee Fullerton and Dan McEwen, Director of Market Development for Motitech for our Closing Ceremony. Each spoke eloquently about the importance of physical fitness, friendly competition and keeping traditions alive. Résidences de la Gappe, Phase 2
Jeopardy
Today at the Residence de la Gappe phase 2 things went pretty fast throughout the day. First of all, the non-competitive walk on the floors was done and finished by the residents who participated very well all week long. I am proud of the staff team that was able to be there and encourage our residents throughout the day and the week without them I would never have been able to do it thanks to my team. Then the closing ceremony arrived, we sang O Canada with the residents what a beautiful moment. There was a beautiful energy throughout the building. Then we had the bagpipes that started the closing march of the games. Dignitaries were present with us, Mr. Steven Mackinnon, Liberal MP for the riding in the House of Commons of Canada, but also Mr. Gilles Carpentier from the City of Gatineau. They spoke and addressed our residents with generosity and admiration for the beautiful week accomplished. What a beautiful moment. All the staff was present, our chef addressed the residents to congratulate them for their great work! It was truly magical. In closing, we highlighted the exceptional work done by our Chef de Mission André Matte and all our assistants in each of the disciplines. To end the day, we celebrated with the musician Gilles Beaudin. Truly a wonderful day and a wonderful week that ended on a high note! Thank you to each of you for allowing us to live such beautiful moments with our residents!
