Day One of the Games was a huge success! We are thrilled to share recaps from each residence.

Aspen Heights Retirement Residence
At Aspen Heights Retirement Residence we kicked off the All Seniors Care Seniors Games with an incredible turnout for the Walk & Roll event! A total of 50 walkers took on the challenge, determined to test their endurance and see just how far they could go.
The energy was contagious as Esther J. completed eight floors—including each stairwell!—setting the bar high for the competition. Her determination and spirit were an inspiration to all, proving once again that enthusiasm for the Games in Calgary, AB, is second to none!
“The bagpipers added such a nice touch to the Opening Ceremonies—it really made it feel extra special,” shared Mary F., a resident at Aspen Heights.
After walking the halls, many residents still had energy to dance the halls! We also had our very own cheer squad, The Aspenets kick off the games with a cheer. They gave residents pom-poms, and we cheered on our walkers/rollers!
The community showed incredible support, with people at the water table cheering on participants. Among them was Sultan Mahmood, Board Director for the local school board, along with members of the Rotary Partners of Calgary (Mary V, Sharon G, and Pat D).

A fun highlight happened when one of our special guests, local reporter Leslie Horton was “arrested” by Cst. Max for providing an inaccurate weather forecast that didn’t match our local groundhog, Balzac Billy’s prediction on Groundhog Day!
As the event wrapped up, George D. beamed with pride and said, “It really means something special to have Josh here from Toronto. Really makes us feel important that he made the trip to be here for our games.” Moments like these remind us why these Games are so special.

Auburn Heights Retirement Residence
At Auburn Heights , we kicked off the All Seniors Care Seniors Games with an incredible turnout for the Walk & Roll event! A total of 47 walkers took on the challenge, determined to test their endurance and see just how far they could go.
An inspiration to all, Barb G. completed 10 floors, setting the bar high for the competition. Their determination and spirit proved once again that the enthusiasm for the Games in Calgary is second to none!

Constable Mike threw the bean bags for cornhole and got all four in. The residents cheered, then Remy said very loudly, “He must have been working on it all year to get them all in!” Everyone laughed.

When Shirley, an Auburn Heights resident, tossed the bean bag to the constable and aimed right for the phone that was taking her picture she smiled and said “I still got it!”

Preston Park I Retirement residence
At Preston Park we kicked off the All Seniors Care Seniors Games with an incredible turnout for the Walk & Roll event! A total of 73 walkers took on the challenge, determined to test their endurance and see just how far they could go!
The energy was contagious as all residents participating completed all 4 floors, setting the bar high for the remainder of this week’s competition. Their determination and spirit were an inspiration to all, proving once again that the enthusiasm for the Games in Saskatoon is second to none!
Resident Dale is very excited to participate this year and challenge his medal count from last year where he was our top performer!

Preston Park II Retirement Residence
At Preston Park II, we kicked off the All Seniors Care Seniors Games with an incredible turnout for the Walk & Roll event! A total of 75 walkers took on the challenge, determined to test their endurance and see just how far they could go.
The energy was contagious as Preston Park II completed all six floors over 70 times. Wow! They have set the bar high. Their determination and spirit were an inspiration to all, proving once again that the enthusiasm for the Games in Saskatoon is second to none!
When asked about the Walk and Roll event, Mrs. Joy P. shared,“I have never done this before, but it’s been so fun! We should do a building walk every month!”
At the conclusion of the Walk and Roll, a group of ten residents who had cheered each other on, walked the extra distance, taking a trip into the Coffee Lounge for a victory cup of coffee! A great way to celebrate teamwork.

At College Park 2 we kicked off the All Seniors Care Seniors Games with an incredible turnout for the Walk & Roll event! A total of 8 walkers took on the challenge, determined to test their endurance and see just how far they could go.
The energy was contagious as Meryl F completed all 3 floors, setting the bar high for the competition. Their determination and spirit were an inspiration to all, proving once again that the enthusiasm for the Games in Regina, Saskatchewan is second to none!
Our volunteer for the water tables went the extra mile and brought music and disco lights to add some extra fun to the walk and roll. Residents were so excited and filled with joy coming down the hallway to even more excitement!

As the Chef de Mission and our Assistants gathered before Opening Ceremonies, they assisted one another with ensuring their “assistant sash” was on perfectly. A moment like that captured the beauty of the community that is College Park 2, and the ASCSG brings a week full of excitement and even more togetherness.

“When Ms. Dawn P. received her walking sticker, we asked her how many laps her goal was today. She said, “I usually want to do at least 10 laps, but with the live music being so good in the front lobby during the event I will only being doing 4 laps so I can enjoy the music!”
The energy was contagious as Mrs. Sylvia M. completed 36 laps!!!, setting the bar high for the competition. Their determination and spirit were an inspiration to all, proving once again that the enthusiasm for the Games in Winnipeg, Manitoba is second to none!

“The level of energy this morning during our Walk & Roll was enough inspiration to carry us through the week,” said Mr. Allan C., our Chef de Mission.

The 2025 ASC Seniors Games at Sturgeon Creek 1 Retirement Residence were officially opened by our Chef de Mission’s, Janet. Y and Bernice. K. Athletes and volunteers were joined at the Opening Ceremony by community, business and government dignitaries who shared their encouragement and wished our athletes well in the week ahead. Special guests to the ceremony included:

With the Games officially open everyone at Sturgeon 1 is looking forward to the week ahead of competition. You can feel the excitement in the air!
Walk & Roll Event:
Then, we had 50 residents lace up their shoes, eager to discover their walking limits. The determination was evident, with many residents impressively completing all four floors! Neil Keep was the soundtrack to the event, keep everyone singing and having fun!
Each floor had different special guest “Water Table Representatives” to cheer on our walkers. Merianne our all-star fitness instructor, Buzz and Boomer from the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Jon and Manuel from the Grace Hospital Foundation, Sarah and Naomi from the St. James 55+ Centre, and finally, Alana and Tracey from the Winnipeg Police Service. We thank everyone for joining us on this special opening day!

It just goes to show the true spirit of Winnipeggers’ and is testament to the fact that we are truly a small community that reaches out and helps one another where ever and in whatever way we can!!! “All right everyone you know the drill, right … left … right …left, let’s get it done and have fun! “When Mr. Allan L arrived, he set the stage for a fun-filled walk the halls event. His encouragement and sense of humor had everyone cheering before the event even began!
The energy was contagious as Mrs. Millie R and Mrs. Ruth V completed all four floor multiple times, setting the bar high for the competition. Their determination and spirit were an inspiration to all, proving once again that the enthusiasm for the Games in Brandon Manitoba is second to none!

The energy was contagious as Beacon Heights Retirement completed 5 floors, setting the bar high for the competition. Their determination and spirit were an inspiration to all, proving once again that the enthusiasm for the Games in Ottawa, ON is second to none!
Derek Jones gathered all the residents and led the dancing and singing through the halls. According to one enthusiastic participant, “the Irish know how to dance , if we don’t use it, we lose it!”

Résidence Beacon Heights
À la résidence Beacon Heights, nous avons démarré les Jeux des aînés All Seniors Care avec une formidable participation à l’événement « Marche et Roule » ! Un total de 30 marcheurs ont relevé le défi avec enthousiasme, prêts à repousser leurs limites et à s’amuser.
L’énergie était palpable alors que les participants ont parcouru cinq étages, établissant ainsi un score impressionnant pour la compétition. Leur détermination et leur esprit de camaraderie ont été une véritable source d’inspiration, confirmant que l’enthousiasme pour les Jeux à Ottawa est indéniable !
Derek Jones a réuni les résidents pour une session de danse et de chant dans les couloirs. L’un des participants a lancé avec humour : « Les Irlandais savent danser ! Si on ne l’utilise pas, on le perd ! »
Cérémonie d’ouverture
Les athlètes et bénévoles se sont rassemblés pour la cérémonie d’ouverture, entourés de figures de la communauté et de dignitaires, notamment :

Their determination and spirit were an inspiration to all, proving once again that the enthusiasm for the Games in Kingston is second to none! The energy was contagious as Karen H. completed 6 floors / 7 hallways, setting the bar high for the competition.
Daily Fun Fact: To burn off a plain M&M candy, you would need to walk the length of a football field.

Cedarcroft Place Retirement Residence
At Cedarcroft Place we kicked off the All Seniors Care Seniors Games with an incredible turnout for the Walk & Roll event! A total of 35 walkers took on the challenge, determined to test their endurance and see just how far they could go.
The energy was contagious as Marilyn completed all three floors, setting the bar high for the competition. Their determination and spirit were an inspiration to all, proving once again that the enthusiasm for the Games in Stratford is second to none!
Opening Ceremony:
When Ferne came down to the opening ceremony she claimed, “I could hardly sleep a wink last night, I was so excited to start this year’s games!”.
Ferne, athletes and volunteers gathered for the Opening Ceremony, joined by esteemed guests from the community, business sector, and government. Dignitaries, including:
- The Honourable John Nater, Member of Parliament
- Constable Darren Fischer, Stratford Police Service
- Scott Petrie, Director of Fire Prevention, Stratford Fire Department
All extended their congratulations and well wishes to the participants. Their words of encouragement set the perfect tone for an exciting week ahead. With the Games officially open, the atmosphere at Cedarcroft Place was electric with excitement and camaraderie!
During the entertainment portion of the event, the room was filled with joy as our residents cheered and danced together. A highlight? The ladies took turns dancing with Constable Darren Fischer!
As the event wrapped up, Stuart beamed with pride and said, “What a fun way to spend a morning with friends” Moments like these remind us why these Games are so special.

Chapel Hill Retirement Residence
At Chapel Hill Retirement Residence, we kicked off the All Seniors Care Seniors Games with an incredible turnout for the Walk & Roll event! A total of 10 walkers took on the challenge, determined to test their endurance and see just how far they could go.
Michael C. completed an amazing 10 laps, setting the bar high for the competition. Their determination and spirit were an inspiration to all, proving once again that the enthusiasm for the Games in Ottawa is second to none! Meanwhile, resident Cynthia R., who walks laps around the building everyday, helped motivate other residents to join her while she participated in the Walk & Roll. She was able to encourage 5 residents to walk with her!
Opening Ceremony:
Athletes and volunteers gathered for the Opening Ceremony. With the Games officially open, the atmosphere at Chapel Hill Retirement Residence was electric with excitement and camaraderie!
We were joined by the lovely Marie-France Lalonde, Member of parliament for Orléans, who helped spread the joy to our residents with her kind words and a small gift!
As the event wrapped up and residents finished their delicious chocolate cupcakes, numerous residents headed straight for the chocolate station to really make the saying “life is like a box of chocolates… you never know what you’re going to get” come to life.

Résidence Chapel Hill
La résidence pour retraités Chapel Hill a donné le coup d’envoi des Jeux des aînés All Seniors Care avec une belle participation à l’événement « Marche et Roule » ! Dix résidents motivés ont relevé le défi, déterminés à tester leur endurance et à repousser leurs limites.
Michael C. a réalisé une performance impressionnante en complétant 10 tours, établissant ainsi un score remarquable pour la compétition. Son énergie et sa détermination ont inspiré toute la communauté, prouvant une fois de plus que l’enthousiasme pour les Jeux à Ottawa est sans égal. De son côté, Cynthia R., une résidente qui marche tous les jours autour du bâtiment, a encouragé d’autres participants à se joindre à elle. Grâce à son enthousiasme contagieux, cinq autres résidents ont accepté de relever le défi à ses côtés.
Cérémonie d’ouverture
Les athlètes et bénévoles se sont rassemblés pour la cérémonie d’ouverture, marquant officiellement le début des Jeux. L’ambiance à Chapel Hill était électrisante, empreinte d’excitation et d’esprit d’équipe !
Nous avons eu l’honneur d’accueillir Marie-France Lalonde, députée d’Orléans, qui a pris le temps d’échanger avec les résidents et de leur offrir un petit cadeau en guise d’encouragement.
À la fin de l’événement, après avoir savouré de délicieux petits gâteaux au chocolat, plusieurs résidents se sont précipités au kiosque à chocolat, incarnant parfaitement le thème de cette année : « La vie, c’est comme une boîte de chocolats… on ne sait jamais sur quoi on va tomber ! »

At Cité Parkway, we kicked off the All Seniors Care Seniors Games with an incredible turnout for the Walk & Roll event! A total of 12 walkers took on the challenge, determined to test their endurance and see just how far they could go.
The energy was contagious as Hubert D. completed 3 floors, setting the bar high for the competition. Their determination and spirit were an inspiration to all, proving once again that the enthusiasm for the Games in Ottawa is second to none!
As we settled in for our Walk & Roll Entertainment, Gilles L. decided to add a bit of flair to his look by donning our purple pom-pom as a wig, giving him a lively, spirited style for the games!

La résidence Cité Parkway a célébré le lancement des Jeux des aînés All Seniors Care avec un superbe événement « Marche et Roule » ! Douze participants ont relevé le défi avec enthousiasme, déterminés à tester leur endurance et à dépasser leurs objectifs.
L’énergie était à son comble alors qu’Hubert D. a complété trois étages, établissant un score impressionnant pour la compétition. Son engagement et sa motivation ont inspiré les autres résidents, prouvant une fois de plus que la passion pour les Jeux à Ottawa est inégalée !
Durant l’événement, Gilles L. a apporté une touche d’originalité en transformant un pompon violet en perruque improvisée, insufflant encore plus de joie et de dynamisme aux festivités

Un moment marquant de la cérémonie a été le duel amical de Cornhole entre Gilles L. et Tim Tierney. Gilles a manqué le trou de justesse, tandis que Tim a marqué du premier coup ! Un échange de poignée de main a suivi, scellant l’instant avec fair-play et humour.
À la fin de l’événement, Hubert D., assistant chef de mission, a exprimé sa fierté et déclaré :

At The Courtyards, we kicked off the All-Seniors Care Seniors Games with an incredible turnout for the Walk & Roll event! A total of 55 walkers took on the challenge, determined to test their endurance and see just how far they could go.
A bagpiper led residents into the opening ceremony with a beautiful performance, setting a wonderful tone for the event. Their determination and spirit were an inspiration to all, proving once again that the enthusiasm for the Games in Ottawa is second to none! Everyone enjoyed the music as we walked together—it was a truly special moment! We had a fantastic day filled with joy and celebration.

Fox Hollow Retirement Residence
At Fox Hollow Retirement Residence, we kicked off the All Seniors Care Seniors Games with an incredible turnout for the Walk & Roll event! A total of 83 walkers came together from the Senior Apartments, Independent Living, and Memory Care, and took on the challenge, determined to test their endurance and see just how far they could go.
The energy was contagious as Audrey Sedley, on the Accordion, and Jean Robinson, on the Ugly Newfie Stick led the walk as a rousing musical duo, setting the tone for the competition. Members of the FH Ukulele Group, their music and infectious spirit were an inspiration to all, proving once again that the enthusiasm for the Games in London, Ontario is second to none!
During the walk, while most residents took a brief moment to pose for a photo with Friendly the Fox, resident Vi D. stepped up to him with a huge grin, grabbing him tight and pulling him in for a huge hug.

Jim P. proved that this year’s games will be a real challenge for competitors. “Our practicing has really paid off”, Jim exclaimed as he easily – and seemingly effortlessly -sank 3 winning shots during the cornhole demonstration with MPP Peggy Sattler.
