It was Rita’s second chance in the Cornhole Round Robin. The first round proved to be a bit of a challenge, so this was when she was going to bring her game. Stepping into the pitcher’s box, Rita reached up and removed her glasses! Her strategy proving to be somewhat effective, as she landed two of the four bags on the board, causing loud laughs and cheers from residents and staff!
Residents brought some interesting strategies with them to claim the win, from balling the bag up to decrease “wind resistance,” to holding it by the corner so the bag could get more momentum. Our residents weren’t just playing a game, they were bringing science to the playing field.

A Moment That Made Us Smile:
Sometimes a game doesn’t go the way you expect it, maybe you’re “off” that day or maybe you’re just a little unlucky. When this happens, it’s easy to be discouraged, feeling each missed throw. This is exactly what happened as the morning progressed to Nellie, with each round and the missed throws adding up, Nellie was feeling it. Then as the last throw of the third round was being lined up, it began, quietly at first, then louder and louder until all 28 players and spectators added their voices. “Nellie, Nellie, NELLIE, NELLIE, NELLIE!” and then silence as Nellie lined up the target and let fly. The balls rebounded just short of the ladder, bouncing back up to wrap around the bottom rung, prompting the biggest celebration of the games yet!
The competition was fierce, the energy was high, and the camaraderie was undeniable. We can’t wait for another fantastic day of events tomorrow! Stay tuned to Fox Hollow’s Facebook page for more highlights as the week unfolds!
