At Aspen Heights Retirement Residence battled it out for the medals. We had 20 residents participating and aiming for the gold this morning in the game of Jeopardy and they could not be stumped!
Later, excitement filled the room as the tables were set for a thrilling and mysterious game of BINGO. Cards were marked with anticipation, voices rose with laughter, and the atmosphere felt like Toto tugging at Dorothy’s hem — playful, lively, and full of heart.

Athletes and volunteers gathered for a combined medal and closing ceremony to celebrate the achievements and spirit that carried everyone through this year’s Games. Mr. David McKenzie, Member of Parliament for Calgary Signal Hill, joined the celebration, helping honour today’s champions as medals were presented amid smiles, applause, and well-earned pride.
The ceremony marked a meaningful close to a week defined by participation, encouragement, and community — a reminder that the true success of the Games lies in coming together and celebrating one another.
We ended the week with some music by Cole Briggs and toasted to a successful week of games, and friendly competition. New friends were made and some friendly competition kept everyone on their toes. We were so thrilled to award the National Medal with Joan A. who won Bronze in Pétanque! She was not expecting to win on the home level let alone a national medal.
As the curtain closed on another memorable week of competition, Aspen Heights Retirement set the standard for what the ASC Seniors Games are all about. From shared laughter to steady teamwork, the community showed that when people come together with pride and purpose, something special happens.

The day began with Jeopardy, where quick thinking and teamwork took centre stage. Residents shared laughs, exchanged clever hints, and cheered one another on, proving that sometimes the best answers come from working together.
As one participant joked, “Dorothy didn’t know all the answers when she left home — but with Toto by her side, she figured it out one question at a time!”
The energy carried straight into a lively round of BINGO. With every number called, anticipation grew, laughter filled the room, and the excitement kept everyone on the edge of their seats from start to finish.
Just like Dorothy and Toto sticking together on their journey down the Yellow Brick Road, bingo is all about companionship! Fun fact: bingo became popular because it brought people together — proving that, just like Dorothy knew, there’s no place like home… especially when you’re playing bingo with friends.

The scarecrow may still be searching for a brain, but our residents showed they’ve got plenty to spare! From clever clues to confident answers our Jeopardy game this morning was a great way to kick off the last day of the ASCSG!
Later, 21 residents gathered for an exciting game of BINGO for a chance to win delicious treats and funny money!
During the game Mrs. R said, “After all that hard work competing in the games like cornhole and ladder ball, ending it with bingo feels like we have reached the end of the yellow brick road and its time to relax!”

Later, excitement filled the room as the tables were set for a thrilling and mysterious game of BINGO. Cards were marked with anticipation, voices rose with laughter, and the atmosphere felt like Toto tugging at Dorothy’s hem — playful, lively, and full of heart.
When resident competitor, Brenda S., won bingo, the whole dining room could hear it with a lion-like roar of “BIIIINGOOOOOO.”

One standout moment came during Jeopardy when Pat A. was joined by her puppy, Maverick, proudly declaring him her good-luck charm — a reminder that sometimes a bit of companionship is all you need to feel confident and ready to play.

First, our minds took flight with a high-energy round of ASC Jeopardy! The answers flew faster than a pair of Winged Monkeys, and the brainpower was truly magical. The excitement continued to swirl with a super-charged game of BINGO! Numbers were called, cards were flipped, and the cheers echoed through the halls.
Our Sturgeon Creek 1 Management Team joined the celebration for the awards ceremony, honoring our winners and their fantastic sportsmanship. As we wrap up our “There Is No Place Like Our Home” week, we do so with a sweet taste of victory and a whole lot of anticipation for the 18th Annual ASC Seniors Games. The countdown has officially begun!

Sturgeon Creek II Retirement Residence
“I can’t wait to tell my family all about this week. It was my first year, and I never imagined it would be like this. The fun, the energy, and all the activities made it truly unforgettable,” Bev O.

At Sturgeon Creek II, 13 contestants vied for the last medals of the games by showing us their true intellectual capabilities in our Jeopardy event. As in all things, we all have different things we know more about and others that we know less about. It does take a certain kind of courage to put yourself out there to answer questions in front of your peers in categories you may or may not know much about. And we never know in advance what the categories will be, so well done, one and all jeopardy contestants.
A gold medal winner was clearly defined, but as per normal SC II fashion, we had 3 people tie for the last medals. After undergoing tiebreaker questions, the last 2 medals were determined.

Athletes and volunteers gathered for a combined medal and closing ceremony celebrating the optimism, courage, and spirit that defined this year’s Games. As medals were presented, the room sparkled with smiles, applause, and pride — a fitting close to a week that truly proved there’s no place like home.

With the Games officially closed, everyone at Beacon Heights Retirement Home is already looking forward to preparing for the 18th Annual ASC Seniors Games. And just like Dorothy clicking her heels, we were reminded today that there’s truly no place like our home — especially when filled with laughter, teamwork, and community pride.

Trivia time in Oz reminds us of the Scarecrow — it’s not about having a brain, but using it! At Cedarcroft, residents showed off their smarts during a lively game of trivia, proving that a little curiosity, teamwork, and confidence can make anyone feel positively emerald by the end of the day.”
During the game, a resident jokingly asked, “Is there a category for Bocce Champions? The answer was a definite yes.
