Record number join All Seniors Care fundraising efforts.

CANADA – On May 25th, All Senior Care Living Centres communities across the country laced up for the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s in support of the more than half a million Canadians living with dementia, their families, and caregivers.

“A record number of residents joined the walk this year and raised more than $28,000 altogether,“ said Hannah Silver, Vice President of Health & Wellness. “We are so proud of the effort that everyone put in to raising funds in support of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.”

At twenty-seven All Seniors Care retirement residences,  hundreds of residents, staff, and management joined in on the Canadian fundraising event. Some attended local events, some walked – or rolled – outside, and others inside. Participants walked for as long as they were comfortable and were encouraged to take breaks. For seniors who were not physically able to walk, there were also some creative ways to fundraise! From rubber ducky races in residence pools to auctions and bake sales, the day was a huge success for all involved.

All funds collected have been donated to the Alzheimer’s societies in the regions where the walk took place.

Dementia impacts the person living with the disease and their care partners. The number of people in Canada living with dementia is rising rapidly, according to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, which notes more than 1.7 million people will be living with dementia in Canada by 2050.
