At All Seniors Care Living Centres, we are committed to the belief that whether as a participant or a spectator being involved is crucial for maintaining an active, healthy lifestyle. The National Events which take place on the same date across the country are thoughtful, engaging programs for our residents, and offered to the community at large.

The month long VAN GOGH brush with genius program will bring a Van Gogh gallery, “up close and personal” at 24 ASC communities across Canada.  During April, our residents have been completing their own Van Gogh inspired paintings in artist led workshops.  In addition, we have created special sunflower paintings by dividing it into 25 pieces for twenty five residents to each paint a piece of the masterpiece. To kick off our art gallery openings we will have a special cookie decorating workshop on April 20th. Using a palette and paintbrush shaped cookie participants will decorate with vibrantly coloured icing and edible glitter, all are welcome to join us.

On April 21st, the reveal will take place when the pieces will be placed together to create our version of this classic creation.  These Sunflower works along with all of the paintings will be displayed in a gallery setting in each residence.  April 21st, a colourful lunch will be served that features Tomato Soup, Beet/Goat Cheese Salad, Broccoli/Cheddar Quiche, Orange Sherbet Jell-O with Mandarin Oranges. Then after lunch we will present the recently released IMAX movie “VAN GOGH brush with genius”  in our theatres. Join us as we plunge into the heart of Vincent van Gogh’s paintings and retrace his life as his letters are read and we take in the beautiful locations that inspired him, discovering the fantastic colours and distinctive brushwork that were his genius.
